WWRF At 6G Summit, Abu Dhabi

WWRF, represented by Dr Sudhir Dixit, VC Americas, was invited to present at this summit, which was jointly organized by Khalifa University and the Technology Innovation Institute. This was the third edition of an annual event with about 250 participants. The summit program can be seen at https://www.6gsummitabudhabi.com/program.php. The Platinum sponsors were World Wide Technology and Chaspark. The event itself was well organized with excellent AV support at the famous Saadiyat Rotana Resorts.

In addition to the keynotes, invited speakers and panels, there were numerous technical papers of a research nature presented over two days of poster sessions. There was also a demo session with a number of exhibitors who had their stalls for the entire period of the summit. There were several major themes in the sessions and panels: (1) AI/ML, (2) Integrated sensing and communication, (3) Sustainabilty, (4) Ubiquitous connectivity, (5) Immersive communications, (6) Security and privacy in IoT and 6G networks, and (7) Regulations and Standards. The keynotes were on free space communications, the metaverse, intelligent metasurfaces, and reconfigurable  holographic  surfaces, among others.

All the presentations were excellent. The notable ideas supported by laboratory implementations were on reconfigurable and holographic metasurfaces, which have progressed a lot with real promise. Agentic AI was also something quite new (at least to some of us). There were good presentations on network digital twin (NDT) technology, including several poster papers and exhibits, and it would seem that this area is progressing rapidly with a lot of interest. However 6G radio presentations wererather limited in number.
