WWRF is pleased to welcome Thabisa Faye of ICASA as a WWRF Steering Board member.
Profile:
Councilor Thabisa Faye serves as a Councillor, an executive director position, in the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa. Thabisa Faye currently serves as the Chairperson of the IMT Forum and 5G Committee in the Authority. The IMT Forum is an independent advisory forum constituted by industry stakeholders in the ICT sector to undertake research and advise the Authority on 5G, 6G and future mobile technologies. The 5G Committee is a Council Committee that focuses on conducting research and providing strategic guidance on all matters 5G, 6G, and future technologies. Both the Committee and the Forum contribute significantly to the IMT and future technologies dialogue in South Africa; producing evidence based and policy influencing research.
Thabisa is a seasoned economic regulatory and governance expert, with a background as a consultant working across the African continent, having worked in more than 23 African countries. Thabisa has vast experience in regulatory analysis, economic advisory, public policy, governance and sustainability. Thabisa is a global thought leader; she is a published expert of the International Telecommunications Union where she has published toolkits and articles. Recently, Thabisa developed the first Regulatory Sandbox Framework for the African region, this was published by the ITU, and further work continues.
Thabisa has an academic background in social sciences and Development Studies; as well as a Masters in International Development Management attained from the University of Westminster Business School in the United Kingdom.
